I haven’t done SMC. So I can’t tell you if it’s easy to do or difficult. If it’s a business, it would work depending on what YOU do. If you do nothing, then it won’t work. You can work any business as long as you put the effort that’s required for it to succeed! If they have a product that is in high demand (meaning something people use and pay for on a monthly bases) then it will make it an easier business to succeed in. If it’s not a necessity, then it creates a challenge. If you don’t mind challenges and can work harder for it and believe in the product, then you can succeed.
I think the best type of business economically speaking is a home based business. Home based “jobs” your lucky to make minimum wage. Not enough income for survival. They’re easier to maintain and they have less overhead. They’re a lot less expensive to start too.
most home based business cost under $500, the income opportunity is just as good as a traditional business. Their are many different industries that involve home based businesses.I can give you some examples and refer you over to different people to take a look at what they’re doing for some ideas. I created a blog on my 360 page on home based businesses. Your more then welcome to take a look at it. I can also tell you about the business that my husband got involved in over six years ago. It’s been very profitable for our family of six. We have four children. We partnered up with a 15 year old world wide company in the telecommunications industry. They offer services that people use every day and pay for anyway. Services such as local and long distance telephone services, Internet, VOIP, digital, video phones, Satallite TV, and all the major cellular phones like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-mobile, Alltell, Nextell etc work with them as well. How many people do you know, or know of around the world that use one or more of these services?
How would you like to save people money on services that they are already using and paying for each month, and make a percentage of all these people’s bills? There is a lot of money in this industry. It well supports our family.
If you’d like more information, feel free to email me and I’ll be happy to point you out in the right direction.

Hi,
I did buy the SMC membership and the only thing good about them is their TV commercials to get you to buy into it. Email me and I will tell you what worked for me.

I have not personally done SMC, but I have a friend who did, and to be honest, what I saw of the products, they were junk…totally not worth the money!
As for me, I currently work from home as a designer with Latasia jewelry and love it! The company has been in business for over 15 years and is a member of the DSA. The job is fun, easy and the money is great. I’m not sure what kind of interests you have but it may be an option for you to consider. I’d be happy to send you some info if you’d like and can help you get started for free. I don’t want to to break any of the yahoo rules, so if you’re intereseted in hearing more, my contact info is on my profile.
Good luck!

You’ve received a lot of good comments and many links to various opportunities. I too will add mine. Just be careful. I haven’t had any experience with SMC so I can’t comment on that, although it appears that some other people who have replied to you have had that experience. I’d take their advice. Let me share with you a little of my experience.
There are many businesses opportunities advertised on the internet, many of them legitimate, successful businesses, many of them not!
It takes diligence to weed out what’s what.
Without intending to pin tickets on myself, I consider myself a reasonably well educated person with professional training and life experience behind me, but……..
I have been ‘taken for a ride’ with a couple of opportunities offering much and providing little – or less – nothing. I lost money when I could least afford it and I became very angry.
Having said that, I was also desperate to improve my financial situation and being a ’suddenly single’ mother of four who has health issues, I felt that home based business was the only way to go.
So, I started researching – DETERMINED NEVER TO BE SCAMMED AGAIN.
In short, here’s what I’ve discovered:
For any business to be legitimate, it must offer either a product or a service. If it doesn’t offer product or service then it is a scam and illegal.
Be aware of get rich quick schemes – there is no such thing. Any legitimate business takes work and effort on your part and requires building. It takes time to build the foundations of any venture – how much time is dependent on your own efforts and relatively speedy advancement is certainly achievable if you are prepared to put in the hours. (As the saying goes, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.)
Ensure the organization offers full support and training. It’s easy to sign someone up for a business but it takes commitment and effort on the part of the enroller to train and support you in your efforts. Make sure you are not going to outlay your money and then be left with no communication or help.
And speaking of money – determine how much the business is going to cost you to get started and what that fee actually gets you. If it only gets you permission to view a certain website then I’d seriously think again.
It is reasonable to expect some start-up and on-going costs in a legitimate business – no such thing as a free lunch – but determine, not only how much is will cost you to start but more importantly, what your ongoing costs will be. A business may be low cost to start but then require an outlay of thousands of dollars each month to qualify you for your pay.
Don’t be forced, convinced, badgered or ‘talked into’ committing to a cost which is above your budget, no matter what the apparent ‘limited’ offer may be. Many scammers offer you a reduced price but ‘only for today’ for instance. If a prospective business partner is not prepared to help you achieve success without causing you undue financial stress, then I’d be steering way clear. You know how much money you have to invest in your business, whether that me $50, $500, $1500 or more. Anyone offering you a business opportunity should be able to cater to your budget to a certain degree.
Ensure than any organisation you are looking at joining is listed with the Direct Selling Association. Direct Selling and Multi Level Marketing businesses are very legitimate and legal and are certainly not pyramid. Pyramid schemes are illegal. MLM and Direct Selling businesses are very, very profitable if conducted in the correct way. Check the company’s Compensation Plan to see what benefits you are entitled to and how teams are structured. This is very important as some team structures result in a high attrition rate, which benefits no-one.
I am currently involved in my own very successful home business and whilst it is not my intention necessarily to promote my own business here, I encourage you to visit my website and also another link which I will post here – You will find further links on what to look for in a home based business.http://www.sugarmums.com.au/denyseparkerhttp://projectsofthemonth.com
If you are serious, and I only work with people who are committed, I would love you speak with you as I know first hand that our business is achievable with full of support and training (personal training too by the way – not just website links albeit we do use the web and email as a fantastic communication tool). Our business markets revolutionary and patented health and wellness products. There is no necessity to sell or stock product, to cold call or to pester your family and friends to get started. I operate my business purely online thus far but have other options open to me should I choose. Check out the links and decide for yourself if you would like to contact me further. The choice, as always, is yours.
Regardless of whether you choose to contact me or not, I hope this information has been helpful. I understand how daunting it can be starting something new especially when the internet can make opportunities appear so intangible. I wish you well in your search and in any venture you decide to undertake.
With Best Regards,
Denyse
I have been in your shoes and have spent many hours online researching and trying to find the right one. The one thing that I ended up figuring out is that there are no true work from home “jobs.” In a work from home job you usually start out working for a company and then for whatever reason, sometimes, the company will let you take your job home; thus work from home job.
However, there are many work from home “opportunities.” These opportunities provide you with the vehicle to work from home and build your own business. The difficult or frustrating part about finding the right opportunity is that there are many offers that are not legitimate, but scams. Theses scams make it difficult for the companies that truly offer a legitimate opportunity to work from home. Usually, work from home opportunities have a small investment to start your own business. These are okay as long as they are around $100, anything much more than that and I would stay away. Also if they require a monthly overhead to run the business it should include things like your websites, training, back office system, and support. Remember any business that you start and want to continue (whether it’s retail, restaurant, or home-based) will always have start up costs and monthly expenses.
I am a stay at home mother of 2 (ages 4 and 2). My husband works 6 days a week and I do not have much help in the area of child care for my children. On my journey to finding the right work from home opportunity I tried everything from selling vitamins, lotions and many other product based companies. I also looked into processing information online. What I realized with all these companies is that I usually put more money back into my business and ended up with lots of product I really did not need. I also was very skeptical of some of those online work from home websites that really never got to the point of what I would be doing to earn income.
Finally, I was given information on a legitimate work from home company. At first I was very skeptical and paid no attention to the information. Then one day my mother needed to have some dental work done but had no insurance. I remembered that I had some information on discount dental plans. Once I researched the information I had been given, I realized that I could provide my mother with a way to pay less for her procedure and earn an income for signing her onto the discount dental plan. I have been with the company since and am on the fast track toward building a residual income.
I work 15 hours a week (give or take a few) for a National Discount Medical Benefits Company. The company has been in business for over 16 years and is continuing to expand! We have been featured on “60 minutes”, “The New York Times”, “Wall Street Journal”, “Time Magazine”, and “American Medical Review” as one of the most reputable, legitimate home based companies. We are members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Dental Plans and the owner of the company sits on the board of The Consumer Health Alliance, which we are also a part of their membership.
Our company addresses the number one problem in US, which is that 70% of Americans can’t afford or can’t get health insurance for whatever reason. We are an alternative for people who are suffering with their health because of this issue. Now to work for our company you don’t have to know everything there is to know about Health Care. Our company will train you on how to communicate our services to those who need it. We have over 2 million members that use our plans and save money on their health care.
When you work for the company you are able to set your own hours and build a residual income while you work. Because we get paid month after month, year after year for the work we do our income is always increasing and we get paid even when we don’t work. The company also does not enforce a monthly quota, which was important to me. I wanted to have the flexibility to work when I wanted and how much I wanted. Of course the more you put into your business the more income you will receive.
Some of the benefits we offer are 401k, direct deposit, life insurance and a family benefit package for your entire household. The next best thing is there is no cold calling, telemarketing, stocking of inventory, collecting of payments, and no home parties! This was very important to me as I had the child care issue to deal with and wanted to be able to stay home and work without having to leave my house.
Another great thing about our company is that we all work together to as a team. We are not out to compete with our fellow representatives. Whenever I need advice my team is there to help me to be a success. This was also very important as I was new to the business and wanted the team support you get working a 9-5 job without having to work the 9-5 job. I have also made many friends along the way and still have the interaction with adults while taking care of my children at home.
I guess I could go on and on about what we do and how we get paid, but the best thing for you to do is research the company for yourself and determine if it is right for you.
